Candle Holder Shrine: Hand Building Technique Class
About this Event
Join us for a hand building workshop in London! You’ll shape a small, illuminated structure -- a niche, arch, tower, or protective form -- designed to hold a tealight or taper and cast warm shadows as the evenings draw in.
Suitable for all levels, this session focuses on intuitive making, sculptural thinking, and the meditative pace of working with your hands. Your shrine can be symbolic, playful, architectural, organic, or devotional -- the form is entirely yours.
What to expect:
- Learn pinching, coiling, and how to slab-build foundations.
- Build small architectural or sculptural forms.
- Creating openings, niches, and windows for light.
- Texturing, carving, and refining surfaces.
- Adding small details, motifs, or patterns -- make it truly unique!
- Choose from our earthenware glaze dips.
We will bisque fire, glaze dip, and fire again, then return your finished shrine to you within 4–6 weeks by post. By the end, you'll have new skills and your completed piece to look forward to once fired.
Proceeds go towards our community art projects, providing mental well-being and creative health, especially for those facing barriers.
