About this Event

There is power in being informed! Please join the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area, the University of the District of Columbia, and the League of Women Voters of DC for a nonpartisan Candidates Forum for the DC Delegate's Race on Thursday, May 4, 2026, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, at UDC. Our event, will be moderated by renowned Washington DC-area journalist Kojo Nnamdi. Mr. Nnamdi is a veteran journalist and longtime public radio host who currently hosts the “The Politics Hour” on WAMU 88.5 and previously hosted “The Kojo Nnamdi Show”. This is wonderful opportunity to introduce voters to candidates in this year's race for the DC Delegate's seat in Congress. Attendees will hear from candidates on issues that are of great importance to our community including housing, education, workforce development, economy, healthcare, DC's autonomy, and more.

ABOUT US:

The Consortium represents higher education institutions across the National Capitol Region. Its DC member institutions include American University, Catholic University, Gallaudet University, The George Washington University, Georgetown University, Howard University, Trinity Washington University and the University of the District of Columbia. The League of Women Voters of Washington DC is a state and local affiliate of the League of Women Voters of the United States – a nonpartisan, grassroots organization dedicated to empowering voters and defending democracy.

EVENT LOGISTICS:

Doors to the event open at 5:30 pm, and seating within UDC's Theater of the Arts will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Visitor parking will be available in the Van Ness Campus Garage located at 4200 Connecticut Ave NW for a $12 fee, however we encourage guests to utilize ride share or the Metro, as the university is located near the Van Ness/UDC Metro Station on the Red Line. American Sign Language interpretation services will be provided on-site. For those planning on attending the Candidates Forum virtually, instructions regarding how to do so will be provided via email in the weeks to come following your registration.
