Candidate Forum on Homelessness + Housing

Join Support Orlando Shelters and Orlando YIMBY for our 2026 Pre-Primary Candidate Forum focused on one of the most important issues facing Central Florida: housing affordability and homelessness.
As rents, insurance costs, utility bills, and the overall cost of living continue to rise, more families, seniors, and children are being pushed into housing insecurity. More than 40% of Orange County's homeless population consists of children and seniors, highlighting the urgent need for solutions that address both homelessness and the housing crisis.
This forum will bring together local, county, and state-level candidates to discuss their housing policies and share their plans for increasing affordable housing, reducing homelessness, improving shelter access, and creating communities that work for everyone.
Topics will include:
• Affordable housing development
• Homelessness and shelter solutions
• Zoning and land use reform
• Smart growth and transit-oriented development
• Housing affordability for working families
• Strategies to address Florida's growing housing crisis
This is an opportunity for voters and advocates to hear directly from candidates before the 2026 primary elections and learn where they stand on these critical issues.
