Join JASNA St. Louis on Saturday, December 14, for a presentation by Regency romance writer Candice Hern! This program at the University City Library will begin at 2:00 Central Time and is open to the public. In case of inclement weather, the presentation will move to Zoom.

Brisé Fans: An Essential Accessory in the Time of Jane Austen
Candice will use fans from her collection to discuss this particular type of fan popular during the Regency period. (Brisé fans have no folded leaf of silk or paper, but consist entirely of pierced sticks.) She will also give historical context to the style and size of the fans, as well as the materials used to make them.
Candice will have many fans from her collection on display for attendees to view. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own fans as Candice will give tips on how to communicate secret messages using the Language of Fans.
Candice Hern is a New York Times bestselling author of historical romances set during the English Regency, a period she knows well through years of collecting antiques of the era. Her award-winning website is often cited for its Collections and its Regency era information. She spent many years on the board of JASNA-Minnesota, including a term as regional coordinator. Candice lives in Minneapolis.
