About this Event
Cancer Survivorship Educational Health Fair
Ascension Wisconsin's Cancer Survivorship Committee is proud to once again host our Annual Cancer Survivorship Educational Health Fair, a free National Cancer Survivorship Day® community event dedicated to honoring survivors, supporting caregivers, and strengthening community connections. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, May 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Brookfield Conference Center. We anticipate welcoming 150–200 cancer survivors, caregivers, and community members for a full day of education, connection, and support. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
The theme for this year’s event is The Survivorship Village: Where Healing Continues, guided by the message "walking forward with you." Designed as a village-style experience, the event invites attendees to explore survivorship at their own pace. Throughout the day, participants may choose to attend optional breakout sessions led by expert presenters or spend time mingling with others, enjoying food, and connecting with community organizations and survivorship resources available throughout the Village. As an official National Cancer Survivorship Day® event, this gathering serves as a celebration of survivorship, a source of inspiration for those recently diagnosed, a place of support for families and caregivers, and an outreach to the broader community.
While registration is not required, we encourage you to register so we can prepare enough food and create the best experience for everyone.

Epigenetics After Cancer: How Everyday Habits Support Your Body’s Recovery
Info: Presented by Rutu Ruparel, Founder of Oncera Health
Life after treatment can feel uncertain—your body may feel different, your energy unpredictable, and the “what now?” questions endless. This talk explores epigenetics, the science behind how lifestyle and environment influence how genes behave after cancer treatment without changing DNA itself. Rutu Ruparel explains how common post-treatment experiences—such as fatigue, brain fog, weight changes, disrupted sleep, and hormonal shifts—relate to biological pathways affected by treatment, and how everyday factors like movement, nutrition, sleep timing, stress response, and daily routines support the body’s ability to adapt over time. This talk offers a clear, evidence-based framework for thinking about survivorship, what epigenetics can and cannot explain, and how to approach long-term health after cancer realistically.
