Join us in celebrating our sister city relationship with Nara, Japan at the Canberra Nara Candle Festival on Saturday 26 October from 4.00-9.00pm at Canberra Nara Peace Park, Lennox Gardens, Flynn Drive, Yarralumla. 🕯️✨The Canberra Nara Candle festival began in 2003 as a tribute to the relationship between the two cities and has grown to become one of Canberra’s key cultural events. The festival is based upon a much larger candle festival, Nara Tokae, held annually in Nara Japan.
This year’s festival will feature various displays, performances and activities celebrating Japanese art, culture, and food. Visitors can ring the Peace Bell, watch (or enter) a Cosplay competition, see Taiko drumming, martial arts, and calligraphy demonstrations. At the core of the event is the lighting of the 2000 candles illuminating the park and signifying peace and goodwill. 😊🔔
