Meet me at Great Shiplock Park info sign. parking is limited so consider biking there from elsewhere downtown, along the Va. Capital Trail or Canal Walk.
We will bike in a leisurely fashion along the James Riverfront, using mostly the Cap Trail and the Canal Walk.
Andrew will share history stories at stops along the way, about the history of Richmond's industrial past, mostly from the 18th and 19th centuries, using the remnants of that history as a backdrop. At the same time, Andrew will point out examples of reuse and revitalization of historic infrastructure, such as the former power plant, the Haxall Canal and its associated dam, Tredegar Ironworks, and more.
