ALUMNAE SPEAKERS:

Shaloma Gauthier (BA, 2005)

Manager of the Immigration Promotion and Employer Outreach Unit with the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.

Shaloma has held several leadership positions within the Ontario Public Service. In this capacity, she has led large teams, overseen complex policy files, and provided strategic guidance to senior management. She has vast experience in the realm of economic immigration pathways to Ontario. In May 2023, she moved into the role of Manager of the Immigration Promotion and Employer Outreach Unit with the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. The unit takes an active role in helping domestic employers find talent solutions and navigate the complex federal and provincial immigration systems. Committed to volunteerism she designed and led a program for over 100 staff in the Government of Ontario aimed at furthering professional development. For several years, she served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Alliance Française in Toronto. Before joining the OPS, Shaloma completed her PhD in International History and Politics at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.

Allison Williams (MA, 2011)

Staff Litigation Lawyer, Justice for Children and Youth

Allison P. Williams originally hails from Emo, in Northwestern Ontario. After completing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Women’s Studies (Honours) at Queen's University, she completed her MA in Political Science at U of T in 2011. Following that, she went on to obtain her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2015. While there, Allison received an Ian Scott Public Interest Fellowship and spent a summer working for the Grand Council Treaty # 3 Women’s Council. Following law school, Allison articled at the Ministry of the Attorney General, Office of the Children’s Lawyer before being called to the bar in Ontario in 2016. She then spent several years working at a small firm practicing primarily immigration and refugee law, administrative law, and family law, before joining the specialty community legal clinic, Justice for Children and Youth in 2019. JFCY provides legal services to children and young people across the province of Ontario, and its lawyers are experts in domestic and international children's law.
