About this Event
What To Expect
Children can enjoy a fun day at the Arts and Culture Hub in Niagara Falls. On. Children will enjoy a full day of activities and games (not all art) and will be led by experienced staff. Light snacks and water will be provided, but please bring a peanut-free lunch. Our staff includes experienced ECEs, Child and Youth Workers, and local Artists. All supplies are included!
Immerse your children in a world of inspiration and creativity while we guide them toward expressing their artistic side. The camp welcomes children to form creative connections regardless of skill level. You don't have to be an artist to attend! Get inspired to experiment with different crafts and art forms.
Our safe and welcoming environment and staff are here to guide and support your children through an art-making process by pulling out ideas and exploring materials. We provide a theme and materials to help your child kickstart their creativity. Your child will unlock their potential through interactive exercises and conversations, gaining valuable insights into the driving force behind the innovative and recreational therapeutic approach of our talented featured artist, Rhiannon.
Artistic Expression:
In a supportive environment, your child can create at their own pace, with the freedom, encouragement and peacefulness they need. Get hands-on with various art supplies, including paint, yarn, lace, canvas, beads, feathers, pencil crayons, magazines, scissors, glue, markers, stickers, coloured and patterned paper and much more.
The Theme for this session is 'Arts & Culture.' We are ecstatic to be in the Cultural Hub, exploring artists and history together!
Light Refreshments Provided: We will provide water and snacks
After a full day of fun activities, we have planned an art show-and-tell with parents from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the NEW MAHTAY CAFE in The Exchange attached to the Museum at pickup. Pick up and go, stay and chat with staff, purchase a cup of Joe, and enjoy complimentary cookies.
Your Investment:
- General $50
- Half Day $35
- Apply sibling discount code:
If your child has a one-on-one worker at school or requires additional support when attending rec-based programming, there's an additional staffing fee of $165. Please inquire with the coordinator ([email protected]). We have a zero-tolerance policy for hands-on and aggressive behaviour, including speech. If our capable staff cannot redirect a child, we will ask parents to arrange pick-up within 40 minutes. We are happy to provide a program for the whole child and can work with the information you provide to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all.

The Benefits of Arts Participation:
Be Whims Art offers the following classifications: Mindfulness Art-Based Programs (MABPs), Social Art Groups (SAGs), Artist Studio Immersion (ASIs)
Suppose you have been participating in classes or cultural activities. In that case, you probably know how helpful arts-based interventions can be in building social connections and promoting emotional and physical well-being.
Did you know that getting creative can positively impact your well-being? It's true! On a personal and communal level, creative activities have been shown to:
- reduce stress
- ease symptoms of depression
- develop new self-care strategies
- lower the risk of traumatic responses
- foster a sense of acceptance and build confidence
- help develop protective factors and deepen emotional understanding
More About This Creative Approach:
Studies have shown that engagement in Creative Art-based Therapeutic interventions (CATs) and Participation in Creative Arts Activities can reliably predict an individual's overall well-being. Nevertheless, it is essential to note that there are discernible variations between the intentional Therapeutic Approaches and experiencing the residual effects of art participation.
Certified professionals working in conjunction with Arts & Community professionals:
Social Art Therapy is a form of therapy that allows clients to communicate when words are not enough. It provides an alternative approach to traditional therapy and enables clients to create and share actively. CATs use the body and repetitive increased activation, building coping flexibilities and empowerment. CATs are distinguishable from other art interventions due to their intentional therapeutic application and adherence to regulated ethical standards.
Measurement of psychological change is essential when assessing the effectiveness of psychological treatment during a health crisis. A thematic method survey showed that therapy should focus on a change process that combines recovery principles and positively changes mental well-being. This method, CATs, differs from traditional psychological approaches because it emphasizes soothing, which is often overlooked by other therapeutic approaches. It has also moved away from its original classification as a certified practice performed by therapists, counsellors, and psychotherapists.
Groups of professionals like artists, social workers, wellness coaches, and healthcare workers provide creative experiences often intentionally designed to promote wellness. These experiences can also be recommended as a form of social prescription by mental health experts, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
