CAMP: A Comedy Show

CAMP is a comedy show that welcomes performers into a supportive space and fosters a sense of community around creativity. CAMP features seasoned stand up comics, occasional games, and fresh talent. The vibe of CAMP was inspired by the energy of a summer camp talent show: it's high-energy, it's goofy, and suddenly it's the thing you look forward to every week. Mondays don’t suck at CAMP.

CAMP was created by Tessa Orzech and the late, great Samantha Berkman. Sam was an artistic tour-de-force with an incredible spirit who left this Earth on May 17, 2021. The show is now run by Tessa, with love and gratitude for the years of creative partnership and best friendship she shared with Sam.

After nearly 18 months without the live show, CAMP is back for ONE NIGHT ONLY at an exciting new location. The Lincoln Lodge Theater (located at 2040 N. Milwaukee) is a non-profit performance space that allows performers to make money with their art. Their mission is closely aligned with CAMP values that were important to Sam; she was dedicated to making CAMP a professional space where people were paid for their time. The new space will also allow for enhanced production elements that Sam & Tessa always wanted for CAMP, such as professional lighting, music, and AV capabilities.

At its inception, CAMP was about two friends who were new to stand up comedy, and wanted an inviting space to grow. Sam & Tessa created their own show where they always got to perform, and thus, CAMP: A Comedy Show was founded. The founding duo produced nearly 200 shows, running CAMP every Monday from 2016-2020 at Village Tap in Roscoe Village. CAMP has been featured by Vulture, Chicago Magazine, the Chicago Reader, and many more. And one time MTV came and filmed a pilot at CAMP! That was pretty cool!

CAMP was founded on two rules: have fun, and don't be an asshole. Over the years, as the creators grew as performers, CAMP grew into a community of incredible friends and supporters. Today, CAMP remains loyal to those simple and effective values. So, come to the show if you want to have fun and meet some cool people. Stay home if you don't!
