Cambridge Singing Circle with Lydia Violet

, we inspire deeper connection to ourselves, each other, and the Earth through song. We believe in the healing, freedom, and joy that can come through communal singing, and aim to make that experience more widely accessible.

At our Singing Circles, we share simple yet powerful songs songs that can be taught by ear and come to life through the harmonies and unique expression of the group. We weave in accessible vocal improvisation, personal reflections, and light meditation, movement, or breathwork to support deeper embodiment.

This circle will be led by visiting Artist, Lydia Violet.

Lydia Violet Harutoonian is a modern-day renaissance woman, weaving together her artistry as a musician, educator, and cultural worker. Through her signature program Tending the Bones, she guides individuals and communities in reclaiming folk traditions, ancestral wisdom, and right relationship to the medicine of song across cultures. For over 17 years, she has been a dedicated student and collaborator to Joanna Macy, facilitating The Work That Reconnects across many communities, weaving together systems thinking, deep ecology, and emotional resilience in the face of global crisis. Her music collaborators include Rising Appalachia, Climbing PoeTree, and MaMuse, bringing diverse creative traditions into dialogue with her own transformative work. Explore more of her work here.

Location: First Parish Cambridge is a 5-minute walk from the Harvard T stop. There is street parking available nearby. Our circle upstairs in the Barn Room (there will be signs directing you once you arrive indoors).

Bring: a water bottle and snacks to share if you'd like.

RSVP & Cost: We encourage RSVPs through Eventbrite, but walk-ins are welcome too. Sliding Scale $10-30. You can pay through eventbrite, pay cash at the door, or venmo @bostonareasingingcircles. No one turned away for lack of funds.
