Since January 2019 MATES Mental Health Support Group have held our weekly Mental Health and Wellbeing Walk & Talks as a place where people can come and get things off of their chest and share their problems or concerns, or just get out of the house. No photos, no notes, no stigma just a nice walk and chat to people in the safety of people that care and will not judge.
MATES have had a long running association with CALM, the UK leading suicide prevention charity. From 2023 MATES weekly walk is proud to be one of CALMs official Walking Clubs. Working together to help our community.

The Walk & Talks are generally attended by men, however women are of course welcome. People often bring their children and dogs.
They generally last for about an hour around the beautiful Park. Organised by MATES (Mental health Awareness Through Educational Speaking) mental health group, a great opportunity to come and blow away the cobwebs and get out of the house. Have a chat about mental health or just meet new people.
A good walk can have a positive effect on your mind and body for up to 7 hours, so why not come and kickstart your day?
Anything that’s said is confidential no judgement, no notes, no videos, no photos...just people that that care x
We meet in the carpark by the toilets and kids play area
All MATES Mental health Awareness Through Educational Speaking Community Interest Company events are free to participants and are run by volunteers. There are no permissions expressed or implied by the organisers. Participants make use of the facilities at their own risk and without express permission from the organisers or venue owners.
With any Physical or Mental health activity you should always seek advice from your GP before taking up a strenuous physical pursuit or engaging in situations that may cause emotional distress.
By attending you accept that you do so entirely at your own risk and that it is your responsibility to ensure that you am fit and able to take part in the event.
As per the MATES charter viewable on the website weareyourmates.com all volunteers are here to listen and signpost. We are not mental health professionals.
MATES Mental health Awareness Through Educational Speaking Community Interest Company and its volunteers do not accept responsibility for injury, loss and damage sustained by a participant unless the above injury, loss and damage is proven to have been caused as a direct result of negligence on the part of the organisers.
