Calm and Steadiness: A Buddhist Practice Workshop in San Francisco
About this Event
Life gets heavy at times. Anxiety, trouble sleeping, a restlessness we cannot quite name. Many in our community turn to two practices for this, and in this workshop we will introduce both.
Pure Land practice and Chan meditation work differently, but both help the mind settle and focus. What people notice is that the steadiness does not end when the session does. It carries into the rest of the day, and into how they meet whatever comes next.
The workshop is led by two nuns from Dharma Treasury Temple, Master XianXin and Venerable XianPu.

🧘🏻♀️ About the Hosts:
Master XianXin (pictured above) is a Buddhist nun with over a decade of monastic training under Master Yonghua, founder of American Wei Yang. Before ordaining, she studied Computer Science, so she understands the tech industry firsthand, and the pressure, long hours, and constant problem-solving that come with it. That background helps her speak directly to the worries many people in the Bay Area carry. She now teaches Chan meditation at Bodhi Light International (BLI) temples and worldwide online programs, helping students build resilience, inner peace, and a more balanced life.
Venerable XianPu (pictured above) is a Buddhist nun under Master Yonghua since 2022. Drawing on her background teaching yoga, she guides sessions that prepare the mind and body for meditation. She currently teaches meditation classes for students across Europe and the U.S. Warm and approachable, she creates a space where people feel comfortable sharing what's on their mind, and uses Dharma and meditation to help them find clearer, wiser solutions.
