About this Event
Join us on Tuesday, June 25 from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm at the David Brower Center for a lecture by local photographer Stefan Thuilot as he speaks about his ongoing work with the California Forest Project, currently on view in the Hazel Wolf Gallery. We invite you to celebrate and immerse yourself in the abundant biodiversity of our state’s forest ecosystems. From towering redwoods to rolling hills with Oak and Madrone trees, this collection showcases the range of California's wooded landscapes at a massive scale. Hundreds of individual photos make up these high-resolution composites, which are printed at up to 13 feet tall.
California is renowned as an unrivaled biodiversity hotspot in the United States, with numerous forests and trees that stand out globally for their size, age, height, and variety. The California Forest Project's primary aim is to provide comprehensive coverage of the diverse range of forests. We will hear from Stefan about this multi-year project, his photographic techniques, what he has learned about the forest here in California, and how the project is already being used to support conservation and research efforts.
