About this Event

Queer music icon Caleb De Casper is set to ignite the music scene once again with the release of his latest single, "Sik Culture." Appropriately enough, the release party will take place at VINYL Beauty Bar on Friday, July 26th, a combination beauty salon, spa, mini-record store and music venue. Beloved modern darkwave synth pop trio Night Drive supports with surprise performers TBA.

The event is strictly 21+ and features complimentary cocktails (with donations appreciated). There are a limited number of VIP tickets available which get fans the full VIP treatment, including validated off-street parking, signature cocktails, complimentary merch from Caleb De Casper, plus mini-manis, and chair massages provided by VINYL Beauty Bar.

Attendees will also have the unique opportunity to contribute to the Sik Culture Confession Booth, and it’s up to the confessor if they want to stay anonymous as De Casper will be reading the best ones aloud on stage. Tickets are priced at $20 in advance, $25 on the day of the show, and VIP tickets are available for $45.

"Sik Culture," a co-write between Caleb De Casper and Jonathan Horstmann of synthwave darklords Urban Heat, delves into the complexities of our obsession with apps and devices. The pop disco darkwave single is produced by Ribongia (Haiku Hands), mixed by Billy Hickey (Lana Del Rey, Ariana Grande, BlackPink), and mastered by Max Lorenzen (Christeene, Tele Novella, Bayonne). The track made its debut at the sold-out, KUTX-sponsored Indie Orchestra event at PBS Studios, where it was performed with a full orchestra and choir and was subsequently sent to the airwaves.

This new release marks a significant evolution in De Casper's sound, showcasing his iconic queer artistry with a fresh, dark and bold approach. Fans can still anticipate a performance that is "dramatic, brooding, entertaining, and a spectacle of costuming and makeup to behold," as praised by NPR Music.

About Caleb De Casper:

From the horror cabaret and glam rock of his past to his current dark synthpop sound, Austin-based performer and LGBTQ+ activist Caleb De Casper always brings a stunning in-your-face theatricality to his music and live shows. The classically trained pianist and vocalist is known to stalk the stage in avant-garde gowns, vivid glam-on-acid makeup and the ever-present stiletto heels, confidently declaring that masculinity comes in many different forms.

After De Casper moved from his home state of North Caroline to the much more accepting Austin, Texas, the artist’s career began to take off with 2018’s “Good Boy” single and a triumphant Tiny Desk concert which had NPR Music gushing, “this act will haunt your dreams for weeks.” His 2022 debut LP Femme Boy is an eclectic journey, sometimes joyful and often dark and brooding along with that aforementioned theatricality. The album’s roots lie not just on the dance floor, but also the theatre stage and is a “heat-seeking missile aimed at your underpants,” per his champions at tastemaker radio station KUTX.

Opportunities and recognition followed when Caleb De Casper Day was proclaimed by the City of Austin, recognizing his contribution to the culture of his adopted hometown. He has played, headlined and coheadlined festivals including SXSW, too many Pride festivals to mention, Austin City Limits Fest (his performance was named a "Most Memorable Moment") as well as UTOPiAfest, Houston's Art Car Festival, Thin Line Fest and Polacon and was named Artist of the Month by KUTX. More recently, De Casper has been making waves speaking out for LGBTQIA rights at the Texas State Capitol and beyond while writing his sophomore album. “Sik Culture” is the first high-heeled step into new but equally glamorous territory.
