One of the leading literary voices of his generation, Caleb Azumah Nelson, launches the paperback of Small Worlds, his lyrical and joyful ode to South London, music and love, in a conversation with Bernardine Evaristo.

Caleb Azumah Nelson is a British-Ghanaian writer and photographer living in South East London. His first novel,Open Water, won the Costa First Novel Award and Debut of the Year at the British Book Awards, and was a number-one Times bestseller. It was also shortlisted for countless awards including the Dylan Thomas Prize, the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award and Waterstones Book of the Year. He was selected as a National Book Foundation '5 under 35' honoree by Brit Bennett. Small Worlds, also shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize, is his acclaimed second novel.

Bernardine Evaristo is the award-winning author of eight books of fiction and verse fiction that explore aspects of the African diaspora. Her novelGirl, Woman, Othermade her the first black woman to win the Booker Prize in 2019, as well winning the Fiction Book of the Year Award at the British Book Awards in 2020, where she also won Author of the Year, and the Indie Book Award. She also became the first woman of colour and black British writer to reach No.1 in the UK paperback fiction chart in 2020. Bernardine is Professor of Creative Writing at Brunel University, London, and President of the Royal Society of Literature.

The event will be followed by a book signing. Doors will open from 6:45pm.
