Cake Decorating 101: the Basics
About this Event
Build your cake confidence through hands-on practice with foundational assembly & decorating skills.
In this class you'll:
- learn how to make creamy, delicious homemade vanilla American-style buttercream
- practice basic layer cake assembly: leveling cake layers, applying a crumb coat, and icing a lovely top coat
- explore beginner finishing techniques with simple piped borders and approachable embellishments
- build confidence using pastry bags & several different tips
- have fun with other awesome students learning together
- learn pro tips you can apply to a variety of similar recipes
- take home one 6" vanilla layer cake (serves 4-6), that you decorated yourself, as well as the recipes/ "how-to" handouts for everything you did in class.

ABOUT HANDS-ON BAKING CLASSES at the HOMEMADE KITCHEN
Hands-on baking classes are in-depth AND fun. Class sizes are small, so students have ample opportunity for guidance & questions. Some classes involve "group work" with other students, but you complete most of the activites yourself... and of course, you'll leave with your goodies!
One more note... baking classes at Homemade are about helping you feel more at home in the kitchen. We want you to build your confidence and creativity, NOT worry about being "perfect", so relax, ask questions, and have fun!
