Caged Thunder Bringing Professional MMA to the Canton Civic Center with Hall of Fame Fights
Live mixed martial arts will be returning to the Canton Civic Center in Canton, OH on Saturday December 21st when Caged Thunder MMA presents Caged Thunder 29 - Hall of Fame Fights. The high-caliber world-class athletes of the CT Professional & Amateur Divisions will converge on this historic venue for a night of exciting action that fans have come to expect from Caged Thunder. Additionally, Hall of Fame Fights will also play host to the Final Stage & culmination of the 2024 Caged Thunder Cup series.
The best fighters from the Midwest & around the world are chomping at the bit to compete on this historic card. Professional MMA veteran & Massillon’s own “The Mexican Muscle” Antonio Castillo Jr (16-18), who has fought all over the globe, will be competing at a Caged Thunder event for the first time at Caged Thunder 29 - Hall of Fame Fights. The #1 ranked Professional Featherweight in Ohio according to Tapology now waits on someone to answer the call & step up to face him at one of Ohio MMA’s most anticipated events.
A championship bout has been signed in the CT Amateur Division that will see #1 ranked Cody “The Warrior” Wilson (4-1) take on #2 ranked Luke McMurtry (6-2) representing Canton’s Victory MMA for the currently vacant CT Amateur Featherweight Title! Wilson has been on a tear this year, winning three fights inside of Caged Thunder & four fights overall to earn this title opportunity. McMurtry, the former CT Amateur Featherweight Champion, has been on a road to redemption since losing said championship at last year’s Hall of Fame Fights event and now has the opportunity for vengeance when he battles Wilson for the right to once again be called champion. These athletes are no stranger to the pressures of competing on a big stage, with both securing wins at Caged Thunder 28 - Fight Night in the Flats from Jacob’s Pavilion in Cleveland, OH this past summer to set up this highly-anticipated CT Amateur Featherweight Title contest. Fight fans are in for a treat when these two top-ranked amateur Featherweights go to battle with championship aspirations on December 21st at the Canton Civic Center.
It will be a battle of up & coming fighters when the unbeaten Jackson Dougherty (2-0) representing South Prospect Gym takes on undefeated Jack "The Ripper" Schaal (3-0) representing Apex Fight Systems in the CT Amateur Welterweight Division! These two prospects come into this bout highly-touted, with this bout having the potential to be a show-stealer!
Caged Thunder 29 - Hall of Fame Fights will also play host to the seventh & final stage of the 2024 Caged Thunder Cup; a yearlong team-based competition in which fighters have the opportunity to earn points for their respective gyms. Brought to you by iCRYO Canton, the 2024 CTC has added a new level of excitement to each & every bout fought under the Caged Thunder banner. Akron’s Apex Fight System currently sits atop of the 2024 CTC Leaderboard with 63 points; but Canton's Victory MMA is right behind with 49 points, followed by New Philadelphia’s Route 250 Martial Arts with 39 points. There is no doubt that these gyms will be looking to have their top fighters represent them on Saturday December 21st as the 2024 Caged Thunder Cup comes down to the wire!
