Cycling season is upon us! Who’s excited?!?!
Dorothy of Oakville Active and Gaetan of Happy Hikers met some events ago and discovered a mutual love for cycling, coffee, and baked sweet treats. We have teamed up for a collaboration on a series of events where we cycle through various neighbourhoods of Hamilton exploring the sights and experiencing the pastry and coffee scene!
On each adventure we will hit up a curated list of 4-5 hidden gems and hot spots, giving us a chance to savour in rich roasts and salivate over sweet indulgences. All the while, earning our treats by cycling through the beautiful neighbourhoods, parks, and bike trails discovering the beauty of Hamilton and all of its curiosities.
Hamilton has a wealth of beautiful historic architecture given its rich history as an industrial centre, a major immigration route, and a hub for trade and commerce. A very fun fact about Hamilton, and very fitting with the theme of the Café Cruise series, it was home to the very first Tim Hortons!
For Café Cruise 1.0, we will cycle along the waterfront with views of the lake, then passed some historic landmarks like Liuna Station, Workers Art & Heritage Centre, Dundurn Castle, the Hamilton Cemetery, McMaster University, and Hamilton Aviary bird sanctuary.
Along our route we will make 5 stops at some incredible local cafés and bakeries serving up some delectable varieties of quality drinks and treats. Make sure you keep enough room in your bellies to tantalize your tastebuds at every stop! On our list for this round we’ve got Grandad’s Donuts, Synonym Café Bistro, Phin Coffee Bar, Weil’s Bakery, and Paisley Coffeehouse & Eatery.
We are so excited to share all of these wonderful places with you and spend some quality time together! Let’s start this series off with a bang! See you all there!
