Greetings friends of Sole,On Labor Day Weekend, Caffè Sole Jazz Supper Club will feature a weekend of beautiful Brazilian Jazz from Colorado’s esteemed Brazilian Jazz musicians. Both nights will feature the lyrical and romantic traditions as well as the vibrant contemporary expressions of Brazilian Jazz. Come join us and enjoy the fabulous music of Brazil under the fine Colorado summer evenings on our flower bedecked patio overlooking the Boulder Flatirons.
Friday September 2nd, The Coração Brazilian Jazz Quartet with Eric Gunnison on piano, Bill Kopper on guitar, Bill McCrossen on bass, and Raoul Rossiter on drums and percussion will perform the beautiful and lyrical music of Brazil.
The all-star members of the Coração Brazilian Jazz Quartet have spent a lifetime performing and touring extensively in America and abroad and recording jazz, funk, pop, classical, and world music with many top musical headliners. However they are brought together through their strong shared passion for the music of Brazil!
This ensemble presents an exciting collection of classic and modern jazz compositions in all the styles of the music of Brazil including: Samba, Bossa Nova, Baio, Partito alto, Afoxe, and Ch0ro, etc. Many are transcriptions they have taken off their favorite recordings of favorite Brazilian composers such as Joao Donato, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Baden Powell, Egberto Gismonti, and Pixinguinha to name a few. Some shows may have a focus on the music of a particular composer, and others on a mix of different composers through different time periods.
Coração Brazilian Jazz Quartet has performed at the Caffe Sole Jazz Supper Club many times and each time I am knocked out by the sheer beauty, elegance and passion of their renderings of the great jazz of Brazil.
Caffe Sole Jazz Supper Club doesn’t take reservations and it is an intimate venue so come early to get a table inside or on our lovely outdoor patio and enjoy an excellent dinner and an evening of music from the Coração Brazilian Jazz Quartet.
