“Model Chemistry: From Atoms to Quantum Computers” by Irina Paci, Dept of Chemistry, University of Victoria
About this Event

Scientists use models to understand and explain their observations. In chemistry, models take various forms, including mathematical equations, computer simulations, and physical models. These models are used to understand the behavior of molecules and chemical reactions, and to predict the outcomes of new chemical processes. The talk will explore the role of models and theories in the scientific process, how they are used to gain a deeper understanding of the world, and in the field of chemistry, how chemical modelling and the new science of quantum computing is being used to design new materials and drugs.

Dr. Irina Paci is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Victoria.
