Hello everybody,
On this day we will create Café DamSquare on DamSquare Amsterdam. We will facilitate a big terrace on the Dam for everybody to sit and share communal tables with total strangers. Food and drinks are supplied for free as long as you're seated on a table and interact with others.
The idea is that people need to talk to eachother, learn about other cultures, get to know somebody from another culture. Sharing food together whilst talking about life is what has always been the glue between people. In this fast and everchanging society people just don't have the time for this anymore. The lack of sharing causes people to only think about their own needs and makes them scared of unknown cultures. It creates fear and hate.
Café DamSquare is an experiment to show that with small efforts we can bring people together. It is a micro-example of how we should act on a global scale.
The organisation will find sponsors and volunteers to facilitate this afternoon of TOGETHERNESS.
The idea is to get people from all etnicities, religions, colors and cultures sit together and TALK whilst having a drink and some food. Our 'customers' will be the people that just happen to pass Dam Square that day. We are their hosts. All of us.
If you want to help please let the organisation know what you could do on this day. We will need many hands to serve the people and to make this whole day happen.
So, if you have ideas or if you want to help with means or advice or whatever, post on the wall of this event.
Let's make this day happen and make it a yearly event.
To show the world that we are all the same and that just another mindset is needed to make this world a better place.
We will have live music from all over the world, the food and drinks will be a selection of all cultures and there will be dance shows that will make visible the beauty of all that is present on this planet. We need the participation of people from all corners of the world and we will need musicians that play musical styles from all over this wonderful globe. Please let us know if you are willing to share your art with the world. We will facilitate the bigger part of this day ourselves, from within the community. Of course we might need some help from the city of Amsterdam but the idea is to let things come fróm the people, fór the people and by the people.
