Unnamed Auroras (2025)
Johannes Brahms (1833 – 1897)
Symphony No.1 in C minor, Op. 68 (1876)
Unnamed Auroras meditates on the 'auroras' of daily life, the fleeting moments of joy and beauty that are ultimately short-lived. The work swings broadly between expansive, colourful soundscapes and driving rhythmic passages.
Brahms' First Symphony was famously a multi-decade struggle for the composer to finish, but the symphony has since immortalised itself as one of the greatest in the genre. Each movement soars in its distinctive character from the tempestuousness of the first, the lushness of the second, the refinement of the third, and the radiance of the fourth.
