The 2022 fall conference will be the first in person conference since COVID disrupted our collective lives. The isolation brought on by COVID has been difficult. This year we are focusing on providing opportunities for members to connect with peers and provide a forum to discuss your stories, your challenges and successes, and your experiences over the past few years.
We also understand that many of us are burned out, and need to take some time to create something for ourselves. Additionally, we are planning events throughout the year, including opportunities to relax and socialize. We hope to build a strong and supportive teaching community. Our focus is on YOU, our members.

Note: Due to venue restrictions, registration will be on a first come first serve basis. To register: https://www.ctarteducation.net/fall-conference-2022.html
Breakout Sessions:
1. Quilt Workshop:
In this special hands-on workshop, our keynote Susi Ryan along with members of the Sisters In Stitches Joined by the Cloth Guild, will lead a CAEA community quilt making session. This session will focus on creating a quilt with your story, that will be combined with our other member stories to create a community quilt project. Kits and instruction will be provided by the guild. You just need to be present and open.
2. NBMAA Special Exhibition & Permanent Collection Tour by Museum Docents
30 Americans showcases works by some of the most significant artists of the last four decades, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mickalene Thomas, Kara Walker, Hank Willis Thomas, and Kehinde Wiley. Museum Facilitators will be on hand to answer questions about the Museum’s school and tour offerings and sign-up educators for visits in real time.
3. Designing Standards Based Curriculum by Cindy Parsons, CAAA Arts Institute.
This workshop will provide guidance in curriculum design, assessment and instruction, and leadership. A condensed version of the summer institute, aligning curriculum with national standards, adjusting instruction and assessment.
4. Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Discussion Forum facilitated by Jennifer Leniart, CAEA ED&I committee Chair
5. Unified Arts Discussion Forum facilitated by Kristie Arbesman, CAEA Unified Arts Interest Group Chair
This workshop will focus on Unified Arts at the high school level and how students are given the opportunity to develop artistically, collaborate with friends on a variety of art projects, and showcase their work in community settings. Unified Programming (i.e., unified theater, wellness) provides a forum for positive social interaction between students with and without disabilities. The artist partnership cultivates a greater understanding of oneself, and of others, while developing new friendships. Student project examples will be shared and include: drawing- Doodle of the Day, painting, 3D assemblage, ceramic bead necklaces, and a collaborative mural project. Art supplies used for modifications will also be discussed.
6. STEAM Discussion Forum facilitated by Holly Constantine and Eileen Schnyder, CAEA STEAM Interest Group
