For the Warsaw Slam Championship we have get serious... well kinda, but we need to try to not break all the rules this time. Please read the rules of this slam carefully. There will no random ukuleles, ping pong balls in cheeks, "accidental costumes", blatant cheaters, changing of poems, late poets randomly joining in the last minute, or babies at props.) Yeah... you had to be there... Don't worry the slam will still be fun!
***SLAMMERS: PLEASE TRY TO BE THERE ON TIME. You can sign up via PM on Cabaret Poetry Slam or before the show on October 26, if there are spaces left. (20 spaces available)
***AUDIENCE: PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOUR TICKET INTO THE SLAM IS A DONATION OF CASH MONEY/GIFTS FOR THE WINNER.
BASIC RULES OF THE CABARET POETRY SLAM:
Perform your own poetry.
NO costumes or props allowed.
Three rounds. (3 minute limit)
Order chosen at random. Five Judges also chosen at random from audience for first round. During the second and third round the whole audience votes.
1st Round- All poets perform in (3 minute limit)
2nd Round- 4 poets perform (randomly chosen pairs)
3rd Round- 2 Poets go head to head.

RULES OF ELIMINATIONS BELOW:
WARSAW ELIMINATIONS FOR THE POLISH SLAM POETRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Three individuals will represent Warsaw at the 9th National Poetry Slam Championships in Poznań. The Warsaw team will be selected through six qualifying slams held between the end of April and the end of June. An additional three participants will earn a spot in the "last chance" qualifier in Poznań and have another opportunity to compete for a place in the national finals.
SCORING IN THE WARSAW ELIMINATION SLAMS
The goal of the Warsaw elimination slams is to select representatives for both the national championship and the last chance eliminations. Points will be awarded at each slam, and the total scores will determine the new poetry slam champion of Warsaw as well as a postition in the Last Chance Qualifiers for the 10th National Slam Championships in Poznan August 2026.
POINTS AWARDED IN THE WARSAW SLAM COMPETITION:
1st place – 6 points
2nd place – 4 points
3rd and 4th place – 3 points
Participation without reaching the semifinals – 1 point

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE WARSAW SLAM COMPETITION?
Any adult may participate in the Warsaw Slam Competition, provided they sign up early enough to be included in the tournament roster.
Registration is managed by the organizers or hosts of each slam, who also set participant limits according to the customs of the venue. Sign-ups begin once the qualifying slam is officially announced as a Facebook event and are accepted in order of registration (as long as the person is over 18).

WHAT IS A SLAM?
A poetry slam is a competition that blends art and performance. It combines the power of poetic expression, live performance, and the thrill of competition.
Participants must perform an original poetic text within a time limit (usually 3 minutes). The judges choosen at random will evaluate both the poetry and the performance. The winner is the performer who receives the most votes.
Because the outcome is decided by the audience, anything can happen during a slam. A newcomer can outperform an established poet, and someone shy but heartfelt might beat a dynamic performer.
A slam is a tournament of live words and intense emotions — poetry that speaks to both heart and mind. It’s no surprise that slam, which arrived in Poland in 2003 from the U.S. via the UK, has become increasingly popular and firmly rooted in the local cultural scene.

Na slam eliminacyjny musimy trochę się ogarnąć... no, tak jakby – ale postarajmy się tym razem nie złamać wszystkich zasad. Prosimy o dokładne zapoznanie się z zasadami tego slamu.
Nie będzie randomowych ukulele, piłeczek pingpongowych w policzkach, "przypadkowych przebrań", jawnego oszukiwania, zmieniania wierszy i wystepowania dwa razy w jednej rundzie, spóźnionych poetów wskakujących na scenę w ostatniej chwili, ani niemowląt jako rekwizytów. x) Tak... trzeba było tam być, żeby to zrozumieć... Spokojnie, slam i tak będzie świetną zabawą!

PODSTAWOWE ZASADY CABARET POETRY SLAM:
Występuj z własną poezją.
NIE WOLNO używać kostiumów ani rekwizytów.
Trzy rundy (limit czasu: 3 minuty).
Kolejność występów wybierana losowo. W pierwszej rundzie pięciu sędziów wybieranych losowo z publiczności. W drugiej i trzeciej rundzie głosuje cała publiczność.
Runda 1 – Występują wszyscy poeci (limit 3 minuty)
Runda 2 – 4 poetów występuje w losowo dobranych parach
Runda 3 – 2 poetów staje do pojedynku jeden na jeden

ZASADY SLAMOW ELIMINACJYNYCH PONIŻEJ:

Celem warszawskich slamów eliminacyjnych jest wyłonienie stołecznej reprezentacji na slamowe mistrzostwa Polski oraz do eliminacji ostatniej szansy. Podczas każdego slamu będą przyznawane punkty, a ich suma pozwoli ustalić nowego mistrza lub mistrzynię Warszawy w slamie poetyckim oraz skład reprezentacji stolicy na slamowe mistrzostwa i na eliminacje ostatniej szansy w Poznaniu.
Punkty przyznawane w eliminacjach warszawskich:
– zwycięstwo w slamie eliminacyjnym – 6 punktów
– 2 miejsce w slamie eliminacyjnym – 4 punkty
– 3 i 4 miejsce w slamie eliminacyjnym – 3 punkty
– udział w turnieju bez wyjścia z eliminacji do półfinału – 1 punkt

Co to jest slam?
Slam poetycki to konkurencja z pogranicza sztuki i sportu. Łączy siłę poetyckiego przekazu, występ na scenie i emocje związane z rywalizacją. Zadaniem uczestników turnieju jest zaprezentowanie w określonym czasie (najczęściej są to 3 minuty) autorskiego tekstu poetyckiego. Jedynym jurorem oceniającym jednocześnie jakość poezji i występu jest publiczność. Wygrywa osoba, która zdobędzie najwięcej głosów widowni. Zdanie się na osąd widzów oznacza, że podczas slamu może wydarzyć się wszystko. Z uznanym poetą może wygrać debiutantka, ze znakomitym performerem ktoś, kto nieśmiało powie tekst, który chwyci widzów za serce. Slam to turniej żywego słowa i gorących emocji, czyli poezji, która działa na serca i umysły. Nic dziwnego, że slam, który dotarł w 2003 r. nad Wisłę i Odrę z USA przez Wielką Brytanię, staje się coraz bardziej popularny w naszym kraju, w którym zadomowił się na dobre.
