Žijeme v době, kdy francouzská post/punk/Oi! scéna opět vzkvétá, a to natolik, že si zasloužila i článek v The Guardian. Její vysoce politizovaný apel umožňuje vlně mladších kapel čerpat z věčného odkazu Blitz a ikonické hudební transformace, kterou tato kapela přinesla. Od kapel jako Litovsk a Rixe až po moderní DIY punkové hrdiny Syndrome 81, Cuir, Hinin, Oi Boys, Kronstadt a mnoho dalších si tento styl po celém světě znovu získává pozice a vrací kořeny tradičního Oi! zpět k jeho dělnickému jádru. Montrealská Oi!-punková kapela Béton Armé je jedním z nejsilnějších reprezentantů této vlny a jejich aktuální album Renaissance sice odkazuje na evropské Oi! kapely osmdesátých let, ale zároveň se striktně nedrží vyšlapaných cest. Its deeply political spirit has inspired a new wave of bands to draw from the timeless legacy of Blitz and the musical transformation they set in motion. From bands like Litovsk and Rixe to modern DIY punk heroes Syndrome 81, Cuir, Hinin, Oi Boys, Kronstadt and many more, this sound is reclaiming its place around the world and bringing traditional Oi! back to its working class roots.
Montreal's Béton Armé stand among the strongest representatives of this new wave. Their latest album Renaissance pays tribute to European Oi! bands of the 1980s while refusing to stay confined to familiar territory. Alongside anthemic Oi!, they blend elements of Canada's metal and punk heritage, early Voïvod, underground heroes Inepsy, and the punk tendencies of Poison Ruin into an irresistibly catchy cocktail. Add disco beats, the melodic sensitivity of the Adolescents' iconic Blue Album, addictive vocal hooks, and countless fist raising singalong moments that work even if you don't understand a single word, and you have one of the most exciting Oi! records of recent years. Remdik are a band of brothers by choice rather than blood, an unconventional family of straight edge skins from Žilina. Their values are rooted more in the worldview of old school Boston and New York hardcore than anywhere else, yet they remain deeply aware of the issues and challenges of the present day. Their sound is an explosive blend of hardcore punk and Oi!, packed with catchy lyrics, unapologetic attitude, provocation, and a healthy dose of humor.
