Listening Bench provides a safe, confidential space for adults (seniors, 55+) to talk to trained listeners about whatever is on their mind, as well as to share their story and talk about their life.

About This Event: The Listening Bench is actively recruiting Seniors (55+) to be trained as Listeners at the Senior Center and other venues in Petaluma.

What To Expect: In this two-part training, participants will learn to be effective listeners by gaining insight into human feelings and needs, practice reflective listening, and learn some internal emotional regulation skills.

Your Facilitator: Lou Zweier has taught communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills to individuals and groups for over 35 years. He is a former executive of the California State University System and a principal with the Authentic Leadership Center. He is currently spreading small group listening practices with the Aqus Community Foundation, Center for Building a Culture of Empathy, and Braver Angels.
