Resonance: A Release Residency explores how new music comes alive in real time. On three Sundays in February, live shows will coincide with the release of brand-new recordings from top Twin Cities guitarist David Feily—two singles and an EP, each from a separate group. Each release and corresponding show will highlight Feily as a composer, bandleader, guitarist, and improviser and display how his own sound resonates within collaborative ensembles.
The final week of the residency will celebrate the release of BZ3 Organ Trio’s funky/bluesy original “Pickled Herring,” written by Feily. The single showcases the ferocious sound of this organ trio that is confoundingly hard to stuff into one genre. The tune is one of many from BZ3’s forthcoming album. This high-energy trio features Brian Ziemniak on Hammond B3 organ and Kevin Washington on drums.
