D.R. "Solo" Perry

Founder of Ka-Pow!! The Comic Arts Academy

D.R. “Solo” Perry has been a professional artist and animator since the age of 14 when he was hired as a t-shirt designer for a local screen printer. Years later, after being HONORABLY discharged from the U.S. Army, he interned at a local Emmy Award winning animation studio working on such projects as Animaniacs, Batman The Animated Series, and others. He’s done freelance work for Google, Upper Deck,Marvel and video game developers.

In 2021, Solo launched Ka-Pow!! The Comic Arts Academy in an effort to provide affordable high quality instruction in the Comic Arts for anyone seeking direction in the Comic craft. Solo also designed and created The Ka-Pow!! Power Prompt App (iOS & Android). A 5-star rated creative prompt app for artists and writers desiring a convenient and challenging source of creative inspiration.

In the near future Solo plans to launch Access Comicrafts, a non-profit entity aimed at introducing and educating young underprivileged people of color to the world of the 'comic-arts' (comics, animation, storyboarding, Concept art, etc.). All in an effort to increase POC representation by fostering and developing young talented artists unaware of career opportunities in comics and the creative entertainment arts industries.
