About this Event
Join us for some cozy candle making at Hometown Refillery on Saturday, January 25, at 11:00am! In partnership with the mission of Hometown Refillery to help you cut down on waste and refill reusable containers with eco-friendly hoursehold and personal care items, this is a BRING YOUR OWN VESSEL class. This can be a beautiful glass antique candy dish, a ceramic mug or a porcelian bowl.
In this 1.5-hour class, you'll hand pour a candle in the scent and color of your choice into a candle vessel you bring with you. You'll be provided with up to 12oz of wax to fill your vessel.
Choose from five classic scents: lavender, vanilla, bergamot, patchouli, and sandalwood. You're also welcome to combine fragrances to create your own unique scent! You can add color to your wax if you choose or leave the wax it's natural white color (as pictured in the examples).
Your ticket includes all supplies and equipment needed to create one (up to) 12-ounce scented candle in the scent and color of your choice, charcuterie bites, wine and non-alcoholic beverage options, and fun, friendly instruction from Courtney, owner and candlemaker of celyse studio. Please note that your ticket does not include a candle vessel. You can bring your own vessel or purchase a vessel from Hometown Refillery's stock of refillable containers.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What kind of vessel should I bring to make my candle? Candle vessels should be no larger than 14oz (you'll receive up to 12oz of wax in this class) and made of glass, ceramic, porcelain or metal. Please do not bring a vessel made of plastic - not only will it be compromised when it comes into contact with hot wax, plastic vessels are not safe for candles! All other supplies and equipment needed for this class will be provided (wax, wicks, fragrance, etc.).
What are some ideas of things I could use as a candle vessel? This can be a beautiful glass antique candy dish, a ceramic mug or a porcelian bowl. Once you're done with your candle, you can clean it out and use it again for something else.
What kind of wax will we be using in class? I use 100% soy wax in my classes and in the candles I make for sale because it is a cleaner wax and is slower to burn (meaning less smoke and soot and more burn time).
Will we be using essential oils in our candles? No. We'll be using clean fragrance oils to make our candles. Some of the fragrance oils have (a very small amount of) essential oils in theme but are not 100% essential oils.
Can I bring my kid(s)? Yes, children 8 and up are welcome to attend with a parent/guardian and make their own candle. The class is not suitable for children younger than 8. (We'll be working with hot wax and fragrance oils that can stain clothing.)
