Pollinators support 1 in every 3 bites of food we eat — supporting them strengthens our food system and communities. Come learn how you can foster pollinator sanctuaries in your own backyard in this interactive workshop. We’ll cover the 4 steps of habitat creation, engage in group discussions, and answer site-specific questions.

Alyson Wakeen has a background in wildlife biology and experience supporting landowners in establishing pollinator habitat. Her favorite projects are urban habitats that invoke creativity and provide refuge for pollinators and other wildlife where there otherwise wouldn’t be. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries Resources from West Virginia University and holds certifications in interpretive guiding and forest therapy. Her professional career has been enriched by experiences in wildlife research, habitat planning, stormwater management, and community engagement. She founded Cambium in 2022, answering a quiet but persistent call to help people rekindle their connection with the natural world in a meaningful way. Through workshops, retreats, and other intentional gatherings, Alyson’s approach blends scientific knowledge and deep reverence for the natural world to create experiences that are accessible and meaningful for all.
