Please join us for our October 4th FREE Buy Nothing Project giveaway event (like a FREE flea market, garage sale, swap meet) hosted by the Buy Nothing Columbia Heights, Hilltop, Southern Fridley group, HeightsNEXT and First Lutheran Church of Columbia Heights.
If you have items you want to give away for FREE, please bring them during set up from 9:00 am to 10:00 am and place them at your table (tables provided and assigned as people arrive). DO NOT COME EARLY as we need time to set up.
To reserve a table email Nathan Roberts [email protected]. Reserving a table is not required, but it does help us prepare!
You do not need to remain at your table during the event as everything is gifted for free. Feel free to "shop," mingle, play in the gym, etc. But you need to stay in the building the entire event. Please don't leave your stuff and come back later.
If you only have up to one medium-sized box of items to gift and cannot attend, please contact the Admin to arrange placement at the community table.
You can browse and look for items at other tables during the event STARTING at 10 am. DO NOT START taking items before we make an announcement to start at 10 am
.
All items are for PERSONAL USE and are NOT for sale or resale.
We have some bags available to carry your new items but feel free to bring your own as well. Reusable bags are wonderful. You may also donate paper and plastic bags for use at the event.
At the end of the event at noon, you must take any of your remaining items and bring them home or donate them. Places you may want to consider donating to include Savers, Salvation Army Family Thrift, Hidden Treasures, Goodwill, and Little Free Libraries (our group lists local LFLs, including specialty focused ones like the Fibrary, the Pet Library, the Blockbuster Library, and the Comic Library, on a Google Map available at https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?hl=en...).
Children are welcome, but they are your responsibility. Please keep an eye on them while they are in the gifting area so they do not make a mess of the tables. You may send them to the church gymnasium which will be open for children to play during the event. There are large windows in the event area overlooking the gym so you can check in on your children regularly or join them! A nursery area in the Common Room is suitable for children ages 4 and under to play with supervision. Please make sure items are NOT taken from the play area.
Q&A
1. Tables and, if needed, folding chairs are provided free to those gifting and are assigned as people arrive. You may share a table with a friend (or make a new friend) if you have room at your table.
2. Load in and set up is from 9 am - 10 am. The church has a couple rolling carts for people to use to load in and out. You can also bring your own cart, wagon, etc. to move your items more easily.
3. Please only bring items that will fit on, under, or around an 8-foot folding table. You may bring a photo of larger items with your contact number to arrange pick up outside the event or post it on the local Buy Nothing group or the Buy Nothing app.
4. Please do NOT bring items you do not intend to give away for FREE (these items may be taken by mistake as this is an entirely free event). It would be best to keep those items at home, on you, or in your car.
5. Please do not bring food items to this event (you may post on your local Buy Nothing group, the Buy Nothing app, or bring to Southern Anoka Community Assistance - SACA).
6. All of your remaining items MUST leave with you at the end of the event at NOON. Please have all your items out of the church by 12 pm.
7. The Buy Nothing Group will host a community table if you have one (1) box of items and are not available to attend the event to host your own table. We will do this to accommodate those who need it and cannot attend. Please message the admin or event co-hosts to arrange pick up or drop off of items in advance.
8. Please be respectful - take only what you will personally use in your home. This event is not to provide you with items to sell or resell.
9. The event is open to the public to select items starting at 10 am. Please DO NOT take items prior to 10 am start time of event.
10. Please feel free to invite your family and friends!
Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions.
We're excited to see each other in person, clear up clutter from our homes, share our unneeded items with our neighbors, keep things out of landfills, and, of course, find cool new things!
See you there!
