Ready to take your decorating skills to the next level? This class is all about learning the art of buttercream flowers—the kind that stop people in their tracks.
In this technique-focused class, you’ll learn how to pipe a variety of flowers using buttercream, including roses, chrysanthemums, dahlias, and even small succulents, along with a range of complementary greenery to bring your designs to life.
*Our Initial and main focus will be basic greens and roses. Contingent on how the class moves as a whole will dictate what and how many more varieties of flowers we can cover with In the time frame.
What You’ll Learn
This class is centered around skill-building and technique, giving you the foundation you need to confidently create buttercream florals on your own.
You’ll learn:
• How to pipe multiple types of buttercream flowers and greenery
• How to properly prep buttercream for piping
• Which buttercreams work best for specific flowers (because not all buttercream is created equal)
• The basics of color theory, including how to mix colors, create cohesive palettes, and understand what works—and why
• How to build designs that look more natural, balanced, and professional
Important to Know
This class is not about decorating a finished product, but rather about learning the techniques behind buttercream florals.
Each student will leave with 12 cupcakes—these are simply a delicious bonus so you have something sweet to take home, but the primary focus of this class is mastering the piping skills.
Skill Level & Age Requirement
This class is recommended for students ages 16 and older.
While we love our younger decorators, some of these techniques can be challenging and detailed, and we want to ensure students have the patience and focus to truly enjoy and benefit from the class.
Also—let’s be honest—buttercream flowers are not easy, even at the most basic level. There’s no true “beginner version” of this. Every flower comes with its own challenges.
But that’s exactly why you’re here.
You’ll learn the fundamentals, techniques, and tips needed to get started—and from there, it’s all about practice. Consider this your foundation… the rest is your homework 😉
