This 12-week training program is geared toward new runners. Certified coaches will provide guidance and suggestions for weekly training as participants work up to running the Butte to Butte 5K on July 4. Participants can expect to start with walking and jogging and build toward continuously running for at least 5 km.The group will meet weekly to run, with the occasional guest speaker. Saturday time commitment will start at 8:30 a.m. and run until 9:30 or 10 a.m., depending on whether the day's session includes a speaker. The YMCA will be the primary practice location, but local parks and trails will also be utilized. Participants will receive a free T-shirt, complimentary socks, and a discount at Run Hub for the duration of the training program!
TRAINING DATES: Saturdays, Apr. 12 through Jun. 28, meet at 8:30 a.m.
LOCATION: Varies, but typically starts at the Eugene Family YMCA
BUTTE TO BUTTE EVENT DATE: Friday, Jul. 4
COST: $70 for Y members | $80 for community members (Note: registration cost does not include the Butte to Butte event registration fee)
Please note: If you are not already a YMCA member, you must fill out the YMCA community member form before registering for the training program!
