When Robert Redford died in September we lost a true icon of American cinema. It was playing the Sundance Kid to Paul Newman’s Butch Cassidy that catapulted the actor to top box office draw by the mid-70s. It's a true story of quick draws, wild rides, love affairs, and the most likeable pair of rogues ever captured on film.
With a sharp screenplay by William Goldman (Marathon Man) and a Burt Bacharach and Hal David soundtrack, this well-loved film holds a place in the AFI Top 10 Greatest Westerns of
all time.
Held on the first Sunday of the month, Remembrance Sunday is a new matinee strand where we celebrate the life and craft of a recently passed cinematic luminary.
Devised and introduced by Ilona Cheshire. Ilona has worked in the film industry for over 20 years and counting, both in the UK and USA, across film production, publicity, programming, exhibition and distribution.
Ilona has worked for organisations such as the BFI, Cinecittà, HBO and Sikelia Productions, with industry credits that include Hugo and The Wolf of Wall Street, and presently works with London based international film festivals.
Ilona was also the first woman to work in the legendary Rough Trade record store, Covent Garden and music supervision is her side hustle, having worked on Vinyl and The Souvenir, parts I and II.
