BUST explores the femme chest as a site of memory, power and resistance through dance, punk music and wearable installation.
About this Event

We warmly invite you to the second Happening in our Dissident Bodies series and to celebrate the first anniversary of COKO Space with us on 24 September.

What stories does a chest carry?
Some are visible on the skin or clothes: traces of struggle, transition, and affirmation. Others remain hidden beneath the ribcage: embodied memories of love, fear, grief, and rage.

BUST investigates the femme chest as a contested body zone, shaped by history, intimacy, and power. Drawing on punk’s disruptive energy, the work opens a personal, political, and sensorial archive. Two performers move through shifiting landscapes as explorers in an archaeological site, revealing constructed, wild and poetic terrains. Breath, lungs, and heart become their compass for navigating and unfolding these layered stories.

BUST is a multidisciplinary performance by Anna Riley-Shepard and Maria Pisiou, created in collaboration with punk duo Persobag and visual artist and ceramicist Natalia Manta. The work brings together dance, music and wearable installation, combining practices of bodily archive, raw punk sound, ceramic and metal work.. Together, these elements create a visceral landscape where the chest becomes both intimate territory and a site of political and embodied resistance.
