“Burnout” is a word that gets thrown around a lot, used to describe everything from feeling tired to feeling “over it.” But how do you know if you are really burned out, how you got to such a state, and what to do about it? Brooke will cover the three components of burnout- emotional exhaustion, depletion of compassion, and a decreased sense of agency—and will offer strategies for preventing and attending to burnout in your personal and professional lives.
Brooke Kiener is the Dean for the School of Continuing Studies at Whitworth University, where she also served as Associate Provost and as a tenured member of the theatre faculty. She is a certified life and leadership coach and the founder of Brooke Kiener Coaching, which provides coaching programs that build confidence, clarity, and connection. Brooke blends her experience as an educator, artist, and leader to help people of all ages discover their values, strengths, and purpose so they can get more fulfillment with less effort. She holds several certificates in Design Thinking from IDEO U, including coursework in leading for innovation and creative collaboration. She is a sought-after speaker and workshop leader on topics such as Strengths-based Leadership, Rediscovering Purpose, and Avoiding Burnout. She is the creator and instructor for Elevate: Whitworth’s Leadership Certificate for Women and a proud member of Executive Women International and the Women Helping Women Fund.
