Bus Trip: 9/11 Memorial Plaza Bus and Walking Tour/Luncheon at Fraunces Tavern

Departure from Islip Library’s parking lot: 8:00 am
Approximate return time: 6:30 pm
Itinerary:
• We will pick up our tour guide, Jim Dykes, for a walking tour in the
Financial District before we have lunch. Time permitting, we will stop for
photos at the iconic Charging Bull statue.
• At 12:00 pm, we will enjoy a Battalion’s Brunch Buffet at Fraunces Tavern,
where George Washington bid farewell to his Continental Army officers
on December 4, 1783. Full menu details will be available on our online
calendar beginning July 1st.
• Following lunch, we will take a walk through the 9/11 Memorial Plaza.
Time permitting, we will also take a short walk near St. Paul’s Chapel,
known as The Little Chapel That Stood. Please note: We will not be going inside the 9/11 Museum on this tour.
• Following the 9/11 Memorial Plaza, we will take a tour through the Oculus, a wing-like structure symbolizing hope, resilience, and rebirth after 9/11. We will end at Brookfield Plaza for some time on your own where we will take a restroom and snack break.
