Kolkata’s oldest and eastern India’s largest wholesale market, Burrabazar is a vibrant hub of intermingling of cultures where traditions, languages, cuisines, and stories blend seamlessly. The walk will start with the colourful fruit market at Mechhua. Other points to be explored are Zakaria Street (Nakhoda Masjid), Rabindra Sarani, Kalakar Street (Satyanarayan Park) and the Raja Katra market.FEW POINTERS/REQUESTS
• Do wear sneakers or any other form of covered footwear.
• On Saturdays, the area is expected to bustle with activities, so do watch your steps and give way to porters and cycle vans carrying heavy load.
• We intend to visit a couple of 5-6 storied buildings for a sneak peek and also top view of the surroundings. Do be prepared for the climb. In case of any constraints, we can skip these.
