About this Event

Come join us for the first annual Burn Symposium hosted by the Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center at Eskenazi Health. A must-attend event for health care professionals! This in-person event will take place at the Faegre Drinker Conference Center at Eskenazi Health's downtown campus, 720 Eskeanzi Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46202.

Enjoy a day filled with insightful discussions, interactive presentations and networking opportunities. Attendees can connect with fellow professionals in the field, learn from experts and stay up-to-date on the latest trends and advancements in burn care.

Sept. 17 | American Burn Life Support Course (ABLS)

Day one offers attendees the opportunity to receive ABLS certification. This course requires seperate registration. Those interested can click here to register on the American Burn website.

Sept. 18 | 2026 Burn Symposium

On day two, attendees will experience continued burn education featuring presentions from Leigh Spera, M.D., medical director of the Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center, and plastic surgeons Fatih Zor, M.D. and Sunnie Wong, M.D., Ph.D.

The symposium will feature a break out session with the Eskenazi Health Rehabilitation Services team and expert speakers from multiple specialities such as trauma, palliative care, Ph*rm*cy, EMS, Emergency Response Planning and the nursing team at Eskenazi Health. Additionally, a panel of burn survivors will join to share their stories of recovery.

This activity is jointly provided by the Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center and the University of Southern Indiana Center for Health Professions Lifelong Learning. In support of improving patient care, the University of Southern Indiana Center for Health Professions Lifelong Learning is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Ph*rm*cy Education (ACPE), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirement(s) of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.
