Burlesque Basics for Every- Body!Class Instructor: Princess Pickles
A welcoming, inclusive, confidence-building introduction to Burlesque for every-body. During this workshop we will cover a fun variety of topics like:
Burlesque history - Learn about the folks that helped create and evolve the art of the tease.
Self Confidence and Body Positivity , because every person and every body is worthy of appreciation. - Learn about what makes you feel confident and tips to work with what doesn’t.
Creating a personal burlesque persona that celebrates your unique qualities - Learn about some of the many different styles of Burlesque. We then create your character. Pick a stage name, and come up with a routine idea! (Worksheets provided)
Basic Burlesque movements and stage presence - Now that we have our personas , let’s learn a few basic moves.
Props for beginners - Let’s talk about how props help shy performers create space and confidence. We will work on a few moves using props. Feather boas and gloves will be available to borrow. Please feel free to bring in your own!
General Q&A (time permitting)
Dress it up or come as you are. - This is a safe place to express your personal burlesque style. (Please make sure we are probably covered when in general or common areas) If dressing up is not your thing, no problem.
