Born in Winnipeg, Burke Rosen sings and plays acoustic guitar. Throughout his teens and early 20’s he played in social gatherings and coffeehouses, earning a reputation for his melodic voice and Travis style guitar picking. In 1966, when he was only 17, he was a member of The Huntsmen, a Winnipeg band that opened for the Rolling Stones. Burke was the lead singer for that gig.
In 1984, Burke moved to Victoria, started a family and got a day job with the Saanich Municipality. To date, he is a founding member of several bands, and enjoys many friendships and collaborations with other local musicians. While he is increasing his repertoire of originals, Burke does covers - he prefers to focus on early and classic folk songs, especially those that are less well known and songs that tell stories.
