Building Skills Together - Parent & Caregiver Group
Developed by Beautiful Minds ABA, PLLC in collaboration with the Autism Society of Texas, this supportive program helps families bridge the gap between diagnosis and the start of formal services—while empowering caregivers with practical, everyday strategies they can use at home.
Who This Program Is For
Families of Autistic children ages 3–6
Children not currently receiving ABA therapy
Families on a Medicaid ABA waiting list
Parents or primary caregivers seeking early support and guidance
What Caregivers Will Learn
Understanding the why behind behavior (functions of behavior)
Identifying antecedents and consequences
Preventative strategies to reduce challenging behaviors
Calm, effective responses when behaviors occur
Using choices and positive reinforcement
Building routines and supporting communication and social skills
Task analysis and simple data collection
Program Details
Duration: 1 hour per week (ongoing)
Participants: 10 caregivers & 10 children
Visual Supports: Visual schedules provided for all participating families
Sessions are facilitated by a Master’s-level behavior analyst intern under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), providing guided instruction and caregiver coaching in a welcoming, respectful environment.
