About this Event
Introduction
This workshop explores the impact of working with patients/families with life-limiting illness. It is an opportunity to consider personal resilience and understand our own responses to working with people who are experiencing loss.
This Study Day is aimed at:
This Study Day is aimed at those working in a care environment and those who may be caring for patients and families who are facing life-limiting illness.
This course includes:
- Knowledge about stress, burnout and compassion fatigue
- A focus on the importance of wellbeing in the workplace, specifically when providing palliative care for patients
- Developing an increased understanding of what self-care is, and why it is important
- An exploration of different kinds of self-care strategies and ways to increase your personal resilience by enhancing self-care skills
- Reflections on our values and potential barriers to our self-care
- Opportunities to participate in experiential exercises relating to mindfulness and the development of a personalised self-care plan
- Signposting to relevant sources of support currently available
Price: £100.00
Fully funded places are available for CPFT staff. You will be asked for proof of eligibility so please only register for a free place if you are eligible. Limited fully funded places for students.
Location: Education Centre, Arthur Rank Hospice, Cherry Hinton Road, Shelford Bottom, Cambridge CB22 3FB. The Education & Conference Centre at the hospice is fully accessible.
Directions and Visitor Parking to the Education & Conference Centre
By Car: If you are using Sat Nav please use the P&R postcode CB22 3AB as some sat navs do not currently recognise the location of the new hospice. A map with directions is available at http://www.arhc.org.uk/contact-us.asp
Car Parking: Visitors to the Education & Conference Centre should park at the Babraham Road Park and Ride located next to the hospice and use the footpath to the Centre. Car parking at the Park and Ride is free for up to 18 hours. The car park at the Hospice is reserved for patients, families and Blue Badge holders only.
By Public Transport/Taxi: Cambridge Railway Station is approximately 3 miles from the Hospice. Taxis are available outside the entrance to the station or buses run from the city centre/railway station/Addenbrookes to the Babraham Park & Ride. Once at the Park & Ride, walk towards the vehicular entrance to access the pedestrian footpath to the hospice
Cycling: There are secure bicycle racks at the front of the hospice.

What's the refund policy?
If you cancel your registration 14 days prior to the start of the study day, you will not be entitled to a refund, however you may transfer your booking to an alternative course. For non-attendees who have a fully funded ticket please note we reserve the right to charge a fee of £20.00, however extenuating circumstances will be taken into consideration when applying the cancellation fee.
