Building Operator Certification (BOC) Level I starts 04/30/2026 in Chicago.

Building Operator Certification (BOC) is a nationally recognized training and certification program that focuses on energy efficient building operations and preventative maintenance procedures. The Level I training provides building operators with knowledge and skills enhancement in the key activities associated with energy efficient building operations, including HVAC controls, common opportunities for operational improvements and building scoping for energy efficiency. The training includes lectures, discussion, small group exercises, tests and project assignments and will require about 74 hours of time. This series will be taught live, with instructor led lectures on Thursdays and two Fridays between 6:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Central Time. The class will meet at the Civic Opera Building, 20 N Wacker Dr Suite 1301 in Chicago, IL 60606. See below for detailed class schedule.

Tuition for this series is $1400 for people that live or work in Illinois and $1,695 for others. Priority will be given to Illinoisans with limited seats available to others. Some discounts are available, see below. Additionally, some students may qualify for a tuition reimbursment upon successful completion of the training. The tuition covers all class materials, books, and credential recognition materials. Student handbooks will be shipped directly to registered students.
