Building Flood Resilience: North Carolina’s Flood Resiliency Blueprint
About this Event
Building Flood Resilience: North Carolina’s Flood Resiliency Blueprint
Join us in person to explore flood resilience and North Carolina’s Flood Resiliency Blueprint.
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality is developing the North Carolina Flood Resiliency Blueprint to establish a statewide framework for increasing community resilience to flooding across North Carolina’s river basins. This program will introduce the Blueprint’s flood resilience planning framework, decision-support tools, and River Basin Action Strategies, focusing on how flood risk, vulnerability, and resilience information can inform state, regional, community, and built-environment decision-making.
Participants will learn how the Blueprint is used to identify and prioritize flood resilience actions and projects, reduce flood impacts, and strengthen communities’ ability to maintain and resume essential activities following flooding. The program will also explore how architects, planners, engineers, local governments, and other built-environment professionals can engage with and use the Blueprint to support resilient planning, design, adaptation, and recovery efforts.
