Building Beautiful Interaction with Open-Source Software and Hardware
Aimed at musicians and sonic enthusiasts of all skill levels and styles, this workshop covers what you need to know to get started in embedded electronics for real-time interaction. Participants will be guided on how to get started in building their own stand-alone electronic instruments with open-source hardware platforms, and how these instruments can be programmed and used for sound generation, gestural control, and as an effects processor. The workshop will show how these instruments can be incorporated in existing multidisciplinary performance setups, and demonstrate the possibilities of these systems in various musical contexts through performance and improvisation.
No prior knowledge of electronics is necessary.
Materials requied: bring headphones and a laptop computer.
