CLA’s in-person event series is back! With Wake and Work, we wake up even the most dedicated of night owls to strong coffee and a chat about their favorite topic!

The concept is easy: join us with your laptop for an expert introduction to Web Development, coffee, interesting discussion and dive deep into the topic of building and deploying a realtime Chat App. It’s a hands-on workshop! CLA’s teaching lead, Moe, will present the Web Development concept, teach you how to apply it and will guide you through its practical implementation.

Join us for a hands-on workshop where you'll learn how to build and deploy a realtime chat app using Next.js and Firebase. This workshop is perfect for those who want to gain experience in building full-stack web applications that are both functional and scalable.

Next, we'll dive into building the frontend of your chat app with Next.js, where you'll learn how to use React components, CSS styling, and React hooks to create a dynamic and responsive user interface. We'll also cover how to manage state in your application using React hooks to ensure your chat app is functional, scalable, and user-friendly.

After that, we'll move on to building the backend of your chat app using Firebase. You'll learn how to store and retrieve data using Firebase Firestore, and implement realtime functionality using Firebase Realtime Database. We'll also cover how to handle user authorization using Firebase Authentication, and how to secure your chat app to prevent unauthorized access.
