Build A Rocket is a Bay Area/California Delta alternative indie rock band led by Jen Kirk Carlson, a longtime San Francisco music native (founding member of Bad Cop Bad Cop, Angry Amputees and Compton SF). The band blends melodic, guitar-driven songwriting with a raw, delta vibe, arriving somewhere between the Pixies, Hot Water Music and Lucinda Williams.
The current line up of Build A Rocket came together after Jen Carlson and Jason Taylor met in a Delta ghost town bar and pulled a guitar off the wall to start jamming. The band later filmed the video for “Last Call” in that same bar, and still carries that same late-night river town atmosphere — equal parts punk rock, dive bars, desert highways, and Northern California melancholy. #DeltaSh*t
