Set up a personal digital library ledger to have a deeper relationship with the curation and synthesis of the information you collect.
About this Event

In part one of the class, we will be going over how a short lesson on what a personal library is as well as how to think about tools and techniques have been developed through history for managing knowledge like commonplace books, Zettelkasten, wikis, etc.
In part two of the class, we will be forking this GitHub repo (https://github.com/your-commonbase/commonbase) for your Commonbase and setting up our personal library ledger as well as saving some items from across the internet and discussing how to extend it to your personal needs.
Required Items:
- A computer that can install Node JS and Postgres
- An OpenAI API Key

Who is the class for?

This class is best suited for people who are looking to get into a deeper relationship with the curation and synthesis of the information that they come across in their daily life. People who want to see the connections and interact with the entries that they save from different forms of media, like Instagram, personal thoughts, pictures, audio notes, etc.

The class assumes some familiarity with API keys and GitHub repos, but is not programming focused, and the instructor can provide additional support to beginners.

The instructor:

Bram Adams is founder of Your Commonbase, a research organization and consulting firm built around the Commonbase data structure.

This is a masks optional event.

As with all NYC Resistor events, this class is 18+ and governed by our Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct, as well as accessibility information, can be found at www.nycresistor.com/participate/.
